This is the beginning of what might just be my favourite sex scene ever. It’s from the 1981 movie Desert Hearts, starring Helen Shaver and Patricia Charbonneau.

Besides being a groundbreaking advance in lesbian movies at the time of its release, this movie features one the most often praised lesbian sex scenes. Everything is very slow and deliberate, the scene is almost silent save for some soft moans and smacking lips. You never feel like the scene is any way exploitative, it’s not unecessary eye candy - it’s in fact quite relevant to the characters, especially Vivian. For her, this sex scene is a central step in her character development and you can basically see the realisations about her life unraveling in front of her mental eye as she allows herself to become more active and demanding in her sexual behaviour.

My coming out, loud-and-proud moment :-)

I think I still have my VHS tape around here somewhere…..hum

Me, too!

Carol Cast

Read or re-read the book in anticipation. It’s a lesbian classic by Highsmith, beautifully atmospheric.

i can only handle so much socializing until i get tired and start getting irritated towards everyone and want to go home and sleep or lock myself in my room and go on the computer

This is what it means to be an introvert. Not being shy. This.

Oh yeah.

I just realized I completely forgot about my Thursday Vegan & Vegetarian posting so I will try and make that up the best I can later today(Friday) before 6 pm and after 8pm.

I’m a vegetarian, Sha, and really appreciate them.

"

Naked you are simple as one of your hands;
Smooth, earthy, small, transparent, round.
You’ve moon-lines, apple pathways
Naked you are slender as a naked grain of wheat.

Naked you are blue as a night in Cuba;
You’ve vines and stars in your hair.
Naked you are spacious and yellow
As summer in a golden church.

Naked you are tiny as one of your nails;
Curved, subtle, rosy, till the day is born
And you withdraw to the underground world.

As if down a long tunnel of clothing and of chores;
Your clear light dims, gets dressed, drops its leaves,
And becomes a naked hand again.
